Perhaps, this is the most important winter project. The chain plates were original. That’s 43 years old! 43 years of crevice corrosion! Time for replacement, without a doubt. If I am to trust the boat offshore, I need to have the confidence that my mast will stay in place. Along with new chain plates, the standing rigging is all being replaced too. The lifelines were already replaced before leaving Delaware City.
How about some new electrical wiring while I’m at it? Rebuilding the mast step? Why not?
